FUS04: Molten Magic: How Glass Flows at High Heat

Molten Magic: Exploring the Movement of Fused Glass

In this class, you'll have the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of fused glass art and learn about how glass flows and moves at high temperatures in the kiln. Over the course of the class, you'll complete two unique projects, each one designed to showcase the stunning effects of glass flow.

For your first project, you'll work with stacked glass and frit to create one-of-a-kind pieces that showcase the mesmerizing flow of molten glass. You'll experiment with different combinations of colors and textures, watching as they interact and blend together in the heat of the kiln. By the end of the project, you'll have created a stunning work of art that's truly unique and personal to you.

In your second project, you'll explore the use of a segment bar to create geometric shapes and patterns in your fused glass pieces. You'll stack multiple pieces of glass and watch as they flow together in the kiln, creating intricate and dynamic designs. This project will challenge you to think creatively and experiment with different color combinations and shapes, resulting in a truly stunning final product.
