Mosaic Substrates and Adhesives

This three-week mosaic class explores different substrates and adhesives used for specific applications, giving students a deeper understanding of why materials matter in mosaic work.
  • Week 1: Outdoor mosaics using thinset on Wedi-board, ideal for durable, weather-resistant projects

  • Week 2: Glass-on-glass mosaics using silicone, allowing light to pass through the design

  • Week 3: Fused mosaic techniques, using glass frit instead of grout, with options for layered designs

Students will create small projects (4"×4" or 5"×5"), with the option to work larger through homework if desired.

This class is perfect for students interested in outdoor mosaics, light-based work, or expanding beyond traditional glue-and-grout methods.
