Bring light and color to your garden with a handcrafted stained glass torchiere. This unique 3-week class combines traditional stained glass techniques with sculptural metal construction to create an impressive illuminated garden artwork. Students will choose between creating three individual torchieres or a three-bloom candelabra mounted on a single stem. Each flower surrounds a central votive holder, allowing the piece to transform from a beautiful daytime garden sculpture into a glowing work of art in the evening. Students may select from a variety of flower patterns and create their torchieres in their own choice of glass colors. Because these are large-scale pieces, students should plan to bring or purchase approximately 1 square foot of glass for each bloom. The studio provides all structural materials, including ½" copper tubing, copper fittings, vase caps, lead came, and decorative tinned wire. Students should bring their own glass and 50/50 solder (recommended). This class is ideal for students who have intermediate stained glass experience and are comfortable cutting glass, soldering, and finishing a project independently. By the end of the class, you will leave with a dramatic stained glass garden sculpture that can become a centerpiece in your landscape or outdoor living space. |
